Research Abstract

In comparison with the extent of research on other ruling clans, research on the Amago clan which ruled the San'in district during the Warring States period has been notably neglected. The reason for this has so far been the lack of relevant historical material. In my own research I have therefore primarily concentrated on the investigation and collection of such material, and in the compilation of a catalogue of this. I have consequently succeeded in collecting and cataloging approximately one thousand two hundred pieces of relevant material, as is evident in my separate volume "Comprehensive Research on the Amago Clan - Two. "
I was subsequently responsible for the work of the investigators in the next stage of the research, allotting them with various areas such as the culture and the vassal structure of the Amago clan, the castle town of Todajo and its supporting castles, and the economic and religious policies of the Amago clan. The limited period of only two years at my disposal did not allow the research to be as thorough as I would have wished, but as is evident from my separate volume "Comprehensive Research on the Amago Clan - One", the work did nevertheless result in a many-faceted study of the Warring States Amago clan. The compilation of the catalogue will greatly facilitate future research, and I am now considering further upon my research, in order to produce a yet more accurate portrait of the Amago clan.
