Research Abstract

本研究では、金属や半導体に比べて組成的にも構造的にも複雑なセラミックスの多様性を、原子レベルの構造設計とそれを実現するプロセスの開発という観点から捉えて問題を整理し、セラミックス研究の新分野を開拓することを目的として、研究を進めた。その結果、以下のような成果を得ることができた。
1。超高真空下でのパルスレーザー蒸着プロセス(レーザーMBE法)を独自に開発し、多元系セラミックスにおける原子層制御と人工超構造の設計・構築に非常に有効な手段であることを実証した。本方法を用い、パルスレーザー蒸着法では世界で初めて、長時間持続するRHEED(反射高速電子線回折)強度振動を観測することができた。この振動はセラミックス単結晶の単位格子長を1層とした2次元層状エピタキシャル成長を示していた。すなわち、RHEED強度振動のモニターは原子層レベルでの膜厚制御を可能にしてくれる。
2。RHEED強度振動を伴う2次元エピキシャル成長が膜表面の原子レベルでの平担性向山の効果であることを原子間力顕微鏡(AFM)観察により明らかにした。これにより、高温超伝導を用いたジョセフソントンネル接合形成のため基礎プロセスを確立することができた。
3。レーザーアブレーション法による高品質YBCO超伝導薄膜作製のための最適条件を明らかにし、低温走査型トンネル顕微鏡(STM)観察により、高品質YBCO超伝導薄膜の表面は大気暴露にも非常に安定であることを明らかよした。STS測定において明瞭な超伝導ギャップ(Δ=20meV)を観測することができた。
