Research Abstract |
Cyclic loading tests were carried out using axially loaded tensile specimens and beam specimens to investigate the fatigue strength of lapped splice of deformed reinforcing bar. As a result of the investigation it was seen that the loads when longitudinal cracks started in the surface of concrete at the end of lapped splices were in a certain range of the load. Then the average lateral strains on the surface of the concrete at the end of the lapped splice were also in a range of 50 x10^<-6> to 150 x10^<-6>. The strength of the lapped splices was strongly affected by the cyclic loading when the maximum load increased and entered the range of the longitudinal crack starting load. Below the range, cyclic loading did not affect to the strength of lapped splice.
