Electrode-separated piezoelectric quartz crystal(PQC), which constructed with two platinum plates and quartz plate and used as the f low cell, could be used as a detector for high performance liquid chromatograph(HPLC). The ordinary detector of the HPLC uses one physical property of the material in the liquid to detect, then it sometimes overlooked the materials which did not have the characteristic. Since the electrode-separated PQC could detect the density, viscosity, conductivity, and permittivity of the materials passing through it, the detector could detect all materials passing through, and had good sensitivity. The materials dealing with a justice have different chemical structures, reactivities, physical properties, etc. These materials were classified to two groups as water-soluble and organic-solvent soluble ones. The retention times of the materials in each groups were measured with the HPLC, and the relationship bettween the retention times and the physical properties were analyzed using the multivariate analysis, which developed by Mitsui(coworker), to identify and determine unknown materials from the retention times.
