Research Abstract |
Traffic Information enables motorists toselect the best route, and prevents further congestion by encouraging detuours to feeder roads. In the study, Traffic simulation model was developed to forecast the travel time and to make more useful information on urban expressway. The research was done with following procedures. 1. The structure and programming of on-line traffic simulation model was developed with FORTRAN. In particular, content of merging was investigated. 2. Accuracy of travel time estimation was discussed with observed data. In addition, the simulation medel was rewritted based on BASIC for using on personal computer. 3. The demerits and the advantages of the proposed model for practical use were mentioned. 4. Fuzzy theory was employed to make better information corresponded with perception of users. 5. Types of information boards and the advance system of route guidance were put into consideration as practical application of proposed model. 6. Further discussion on practical improvement of the system was known to become necessary in future.
