Research Abstract |
I have gained the following results through this project. First, I have bought so many books which are concerned with the public policy, the welfare states, the political economy of advanced capitalist countries. Second, I have collected the data on the public policy and the welfare state. Third, I have promoted a better understanding about theoretical problems which are concerned with political regime in advanced capitalist countries. For comparative research on public policy, I have studied the theories like pluralism, neo-corporatism, dualism, statism, institutionalism which are used to analyze political regime. Forth, I have examined methodological problems of comparative research on public policy and welfare state. In the past cross-national aggregate data analysis by utilizing regression techniques was often used, but the notion is now foreshadowed that the next stage for comparative research is the analysis of critical or anomalous cases from a historical standpoint. Fifth, I have understood that there were some changes of the public policies in the advanced capitalist countries since the mid eightties. On the one hand neo-liberalism and neo-consevatism could not succeed in dismantling the welfare states, but on the other hand social democracy was in trouble andwelfare state was stagnant. Finally, during the term of this project I have published the book entitled The Analsis of Liberal Democratic Regime, the part of which was the result of this project. I also wrote the paper entitled The Appearance of Corporatism which was included in the book entitled An Introduction to Western Political Thoght. Then I completed my study in the paper entitled Review on Comparative Public Policy and Comparative Political Economy. The publications of the latter two monographs were behind because the presentations of monographs by other contributors were delayd.
