Research Abstract |
1. Survey on Practice Teaching We conducted a survey of approximately 100 university teachers specializing in Japanese Language Education. The aim of the survey was to investigate how classes were organized, and evaluate consistency of theory and practice. 2. Research Presentation Shuntaro Arisawa, research head of the project, read a paper titled "Teaching the Japanese Language : Consistency of Teaching Content and Practice Teaching" at the conference of the Association of All Japan Japanese Teachers held in Maebashi on October 18-19, 1991. The presentation was based on the research mentioned above. Some useful suggestions were made during the discussion session. 3. Final Report A final report of this two-year project has been published, which contains the following : Introduction, Survey results, Research findings and interpretation, and an appendix. Two interesting points are made in this report. a) Practice Teaching of the Japanese Language should be placed formally in the curriculum. b) Currently a discrepancy exists between the theory of Japanese Language Education and the actual practices in schools.
