Research Abstract |
Suda investigated immunohistochemically the characteristics of defense reactions in experimentally-induced rat periapical lesion and examined the effects of neutropenia on the development of the lesion. Tanaka found the involvement of lipid peroxides in the development of periapical lesion. Kawanami observed using SEM that several bacteria were present at the outer root surface around the apical foramen. Kumagai investigated histologically the experimentally-induced endodontal-periodontal lesions in dogs. Yamaki showed that Ca(OH)_2 used as an intracanal medicament was effective for clinical use. Okamoto measured the release of several cytokines from monocytes after the challenge of LPS from periodontopathic bacteria.
