Research Abstract |
There are many useful informations in the primary coolant of a nuclear reactor for making a safety diagnosis of the reactor pressure boundaries. For various eluting conditions we investigated eluted components using high frequency inductively coupled pllasma system (Shimazu ICPS-1000III) and activation analysis. The results are : 1. Fe, Ni, Mo, Cr, Si, etc. as corrosion products were eluted using nitric acid, the most powerful eluting agent. Especially Fe and Ni in the eluate increased with time, which are the landmarkes of corrosion appreciation. Since corrosion products after nitric acid treatment on steel plate treat at 1000^0C was extremely large, it was made uniform structure by heat treatment. This process generally shows high corrosion resistance, however, it produced deposition due to heat treatment, which caused high boundary corrosion. 304L,310S and 321 which include relatively much Cr, showed high acid resistance. Their eluates, Fe and Cr, increased linearly for 100 hours, and thereafter they decreased. Initially they made high corrosion, however, the corrosion gradually stopped with time. 2. Corrosion of test piece SUS-316L added with ten kinds of bending stresses was such that eluate quantities of Fe and Cr increased linearly with time until 100hrs and were more than those without bending stress at 100hrs of elution. Other than Fe and Cr were not detected. 3. Using activation analysis ^<56>Mn was detected most sharply, under heat treatment at 400^0C only ^<56>Mn and ^<60m>Co were detected. As raising temperature ^<52>V and ^<101>Tc were detected. Generally ^<56>Mn and ^<52>V have a good detection sensitivity and the eluates increased with time, which are convenient to see the level of corrosion. ^<59>Fe, ^<51>Cr and ^<60>Co were noted as the nuclides detected after long time activation.
