Research Abstract |
(1) DEVELOPMENT OF LANGUAGE TEACHING PROGRAMS : THE FOLLOWING FOUR KINDS OF SOFT PROGRAMS WERE CONSTRUCTED USING "HYPER CARD" OF A MACINTOSH COMPUTER. 1) A PROGRAM FOR TEACHING SYLLABIC ANALYSIS OF WORDS. 2) A PROGRAM FOR TEACHING SYNTANCTICO-SEMANTIC STRUCTURE OF SENTENCES. 3) A PROGRAM FOR LEARNING READING WORDS AND SENTENCES IN HIRAGANA. 4) A PROGRAM FOR PRACTICE OF WORD CONSTRUCTION AND SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION. (2) A LANGUAGE TEACHING EXPERIMENT TO CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES : WE TRIED TO TEACH 6 FIRST GRADE SCHOOL CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES(LD) THE BASIC LANGUAGE SKILLS NEEDED FOR ACQUISITION OF READING AND WRITING BY OUR PROGRAMS FOR 2 YEARS.AS THE RESULTS, WE GOT THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS. 1) A GREAT IMPROVEMENT OF THEIR READING AND WRITING SKILLS WERE OBSERVED DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD. 2) EITHER "VIQ" OR "PIQ" OF WISC-R TEST WAS IMPROVED IN 4 CHILDREN AND BOTH IN ONE CHILDREN BY THE TRAINING. (3) DEVELOPMENT OF DIAGNOSTIC METHODS FOR LEARNING DISABILITIES : 1) WE CONDUCTED EXPERIMENTAL DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCHES TWO TIMES IN ORDER TO FIND OUT CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES IN TWO PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN KAWASAKI CITIES.AS THE RESULTS WE COULD CONFIRM THAT A SCREENING TEST WHICH WE USED IN OUR RESEARCH HOLDS HIGH VALIDITY IN DIAGNOSIS OF LD CHILDREN. 2) WE ANALYZED DATA OF A FOLLOW-UP STUDY OF 20 CHILDREN WHO HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED AS LD JUST BEFORE SCHOOL ENTRANCE AND SUCCEEDED TO FIND OUT SOME IMPORTANT CRITERIO WHICH MAY SERVE AS THE BASIS FOR DIAGNOSIS OF LD IN PRESCHOOL PERIOD. (4) WE PUBLISHED AN RESEARCH REPORT, COMPUTER PROGRAM STACKS AND OTHER MATERIALS WHICH MAY SERVE FOR THE PRACTICE OF TRAINING LD CHILDREN.
