Research Abstract |
It is very important to measuring the ship motions in experimental wave tank for not only to the evaluation of theory but also to catch those phenomena that can not be estimated by the theory. on the other hands. according to the progress of wave generating techniques. more realistic wave fields became possible to be generated in such a long tank but the measuring system for ship's large motions including the large plane motion are not established yet. So, we aimed to develop a measuring and analyzing method for ship motion in irregular directional waves by using optical device. At the first year, we developed an optical remote measuring system and this last yearl, we developed calculation code for estimating the six degrees freedom motion from the obtained digital data. In the final we tested our system by conducting model experiments in still water and in irregular directional waves. As model we selected free running full ship and long and semisubmersible offshore structure. As wave we used regular, long crested irregular waves, and directional spectrum waves. As for results, our system was confirmed to be a reliable for our original purpose.
