Research Abstract |
THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO MAKE CLEAR THE ELECTRICAL AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF CERIUM-PNICTIDES HAVING NACL-TYPE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE UNDER HIGH PRESSURE. RESULTS OBTAINED FOR THESE TWO YEARS ARE AS FOLLOWS. 1. THE ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY OF THESE COMPOUNDS WERE MEASURED UNDER PRESSURE UP TO 8GPa AND AT TEMPERATURE FROM 4.2K TO 300K. 2. MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY WAS MEASURED FOR CeP UNDER PRESSURE UP TO 1GPa. 3. HEAT CAPACITY WAS MEASURED FOR CeP UNDER PRESSURE UP TO 0.5GPa. 4. PRESSURE-TEMPERATURE MAGNETIC PHASE DIAGRAM WAS OBTAINED FOR CeBi AND CeSb. FOR CeP MAGNETIC AND ELECTRONIC PHASE DIAGRAM WAS PROPOSED. 5. ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY UNDER MAGNETIC FIELD WAS MEASURED FOR CeAs AND CeSb. 6. THE SHUBNIKOV DE HAAS SIGNALS OF LaSb AND CeAs WERE OBSERVED. 7. ANOMALOUS ENHANCEMENT OF THE RESISTIVITY OF CeSb WAS INDUCED UNDER PRESSURE NEAR 30K. 8. EFFECTS OF PRESSURE ON THE MAGNETIC STRUCTURE AND THE CRYSTALLINE FIELD SPLITTING OF CeP AND CeAs ARE NOW MEASURED. THESE RESULTS WERE REPORTED AT CONFERENCES OF THE PHYSICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN, THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF HIGH PRESSURE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF STRONGLY CORRELATED ELECTRON SYSTEMS HELD AT SENDAI, AND 5TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF HIGH PRESSURE IN SEMICONDUCTOR PHYSICS HELD AT KYOTO. THESE RESULTS WILL BE ALSO REPORTED AS AN INVITED PAPER AT AIRAPT CONFERENCE ON HIGH PRESSURE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AT COLORADO.
