Research Abstract |
This cooperative project deals with a wide range of basic researches of power transmission and gearing. The satisfactory results are obtained in these three years under the efforts by many researchers of Tohoku University of Japan and Chongqing University of China, and the academic exchanges and friendship of the scholars of two countries are promoted as well. The research topics are summarized briefly below. 1) Load Carrying Capacity of Hourglass worm Gearing The loaded contact situations of worm gearing are examined considering the profile precision and assembly errors. A measurement method for tooth profile of worm and wheel is presented, and a new kind of hourglass worm gearing with a higher load carrying capacity is developed to have a local surface contact condition. 2) Interference Problems in Spiral Bevel Gears The phenomena of interference in the spiral bevel gears are analyzed. dimension design. 3) The Strength Evaluation Based Fracture Mechanics A new tooth bending strength evaluation method is presented based on fracture mechanics. The effects of surface conditions such as roughness, machining flaws, non-martensitic layr and shot-peening to the bending strength become possible to be evaluated with the initial crack length. The bending strength can be determined by comparing the limit of initial crack lenght with the threshold crack length, which is a function of hardness. 4) Lubrication of Gearing The scoring resistance of gearing is evaluated with the initial temperature which is a main composite of the flash temperature index. The definition of the initial temperature is made clear and an experimental formula for the initial temperature is presented. 5) The Vibration of Gear Box The sound radiation of a single stage gear box was described. The radiated sound power was measured with sound intensity method and calculated by Boundary Element Method. This research makes it possible to estimate the sound radiation of a gear box in designing procedure. Less
