Research Abstract

凝縮媒体、特に固体中の衝撃波の構造と衝撃圧縮挙動を明らかにして物質・材料科学や地球・天体科学の研究手段としての衝撃実験技術を確立し、それぞれの分野で国際的にも最高水準のデモンストレーション実験を行うことが本研究の目的であった。本研究計画の最終年度である平成4年度の研究実績をまとめると、(1)衝撃波伝搬速度の異なる材料を組み合わせた円柱内の衝撃波干渉によって生じたマッハ効果によって、単純な飛翔体衝突によって得ることができない超高圧力高温状態を粉体又は多孔質体中に発生させて、試料を回収する技術を確立し、新しい炭素-窒化ホウ素系の化合物を合成した(東工大)。(2)構造用材料として実用化が進んでいる高強度セラミックスの衝撃圧縮挙動を、平成3年度に完成した高精度高速カメラを使用して観則し、セラミックスの微細構造と圧縮挙動との関係について多くの知見を得た(熊本大)。(3)平成3年度に完成した中速精密衝突装置と高速カメラを使用して、高分子中の衝撃波の伝播と干渉について、新しい知見を得た(九州大)。(4)地殻の重要な構成鉱石である長石、カオリナイトの衝撃圧縮実験を行い、回収物の電子顕微鏡による観察によって、衝撃圧縮によるガラス化機構に関する知見を得た(東北大)。(5)地表・月面・火星面への隕石衝突時の状態を明らかにするために、隕石クレーターから回収された鉱物の微細構造について多くの知見を得、人工的に衝撃処理した鉱物との相関を明らかにした(山口大)。(6)計算機シミュレーションによって固体中の衝撃波の発生メカニズムと構造、特に融点近傍における特異な衝撃波の挙動を明らかにするために、杉山等によって導出された衝撃波に関する基礎方程式を使って、シミュレーションを行った(名工大)。以上の各グループの成果を総括して、固体中の衝撃波の挙動について総合的な考察を行った。
