Research Abstract

本計画研究の重要な課題の1つは、連星中性子星の合体時に発生する重力波の波形予測であるが、これに関して2つの重要な仕事がなされた。1)片方の質量が一方に比べて小さい場合、一般相対論の摂動論を使う事によりポストニュートニアンの8次の項までのエネルギー放出率を明らかにした。その結果ポストニュートニアン展開は6次程度まで実行すれば十分であることがわかったが、これは世界的にも今後大きな課題となった。2)合体時の現象は完全に一般相対論を取り入れた数値シミュレーションが必要であるが、これについてはア)共形時間切断法イ)Pseudo Minimal Shear条件を開発して3次元数値コードを完成させた。今後は、上下対称性等を仮定して、本格的にシュミレーションを行う予定である。1 )、2)とも1994年7月に米国スタンフォード大学で開催された第7回マ-セルグロスマン会議で発表し、その成果は国際的に認められた。超新星爆発についても各種回転則の場合の2次元数値シュミレーションを実行した。
