Research Abstract

N2、CH_4、およびCO_2のような不活性小分子を活性化するための固体表面構造の設計と開発に関する研究を6名が分担して行った。
分子の活性化を詳細に調べ、効率的な活性化プロセスを開発するためには、固体表面の構造解析を行う必要がある。3方向で構造を解析することが可能な偏光全反射蛍光 EXAFS装置を開発して、それを用いてAl_2O_3単結晶上に分散したPt微粒子の雰囲気構造変化を追跡することに成功した。また、高感度反射吸収IR分光法の開発も併せて行った。
CO_2の活性化機構を調べる目的で、Pt単結晶の種々の構造面を用いて、CO_2の脱離のダイナミックスを調べ、結晶面の異方性を反映した脱離分布を見いだした。CO_2をH_2により還元してメタノールに転換する新規Pt触媒の開発に成功した。Pt触媒はCO_2還元によるメタノール合成に不活性てあるが、PtとWおよびCrを含むバイメタル錯体を用いると選択的にメタノールが生成することを見いだした。一方、SiO_2上にTiO_2やV_2O_5を高分散させ、さらにPtあるいはCuを添加した触媒が、CO_2の光還元に有効であることを見いだした。Cuの微粒子で表面修飾したp型Si半導体電極を用いて、太陽光によるCO_2の光電気化学的還元を行い、Cu電極に比べて遙に効率的にエチレンなどの生成物を得た。
ゼオライト細孔内Ru触媒がメタンを活性化してC_2-C_4の炭化水素化合物を得るのに有効な触媒となりうることを観察した。
