Research Abstract

1.昆虫類の菌細胞共生体は、その所在箇所および栄養代謝上の役割からみて、腸内細菌に起原が求められると考えられてきたが、直接的証拠はなかった。本研究では、16SrDNAについての分子系統解析によって、アブラムシの菌細胞共生体がその腸内細菌の1つときわめて近い関係にあることを明らかにした。
2.根粒菌がマメ科植物の細胞に侵入し、根粒を形成するには、宿主のもつ防御機構の発動を抑制する必要がある。ミヤコグサを宿主とするミヤコグサ菌の変異株を用いて検討した結果、菌のもつ菌体外多糖類に変異があると宿主の防御機構が発動されて、正常な共生に到らないことが明らかになった。
3.ゾウリムシ大核内寄生細菌ホロスポラは、みかけ上宿主に有害な影響しか与えないにもかかわらず、なぜ集団中に保たれるかについて検討した。その結果、増殖型ホロスポラを保有する宿主は高温ならびに低温条件下においては、保有しない対照群より生残率が有意に高いことが明らかになった。この結果は極端な生息環境ではホロスポラが宿主に利益をもたらすことを示唆しており、寄生から共生への移行過程にあるとみることができる。
4.日本近海の冷水湧出帯周辺のシロウリガイのえら細胞に保有されている細菌の16SrDNAの構造を調べた結果、熱噴出孔周辺のシロウリガイの共生細菌同様、これらもプロテオバクテリアのガンマ亜族に属し、しかも両者は非常に近縁な関係にあることが明らかになった。
