Research Abstract

様々な生体高次機能の解析には、分子生物学的解析のみでなく、遺伝学的手法や発生生物学的手法などの良く発達したショウジョウバエ・線虫などのモデル生物を用いた先導的な研究の推進が重要である。本重点領域研究は、我が国でのショウジョウバエを中心としたモデル生物による個体レベルでの遺伝子機能研究の質的・量的発展を目指して平成4〜6年度にに実施され、本年度はその成果の取りまとめを中心に行なった。Medlineを検索し、全国におけるショウジュバエを用いた分子生物研究に関する論文の統計の結果、我が国では1987年以後急速な発展が見られ、1991年には英国・ドイツと肩を並べて、首位の米国に次いで世界をリ-ドするまでに至ったことが明かであり、また、研究内容も優れたものが多く、本重点領域研究の当初の目標が充分達成できたと考える。今後は、より独創性の高い研究を目指して、相互の研究支援・強力体制を引き続き維持すること、若手研究者の育成にも勤めることの必要性などが討議された。また、平成8年1月22日に愛知県がんセンター国際医学交流センターにおいてシンポジウム「モデル生物による生体高次機能解析」を開催すると共に、本重点領域研究実施期間中の主要な成果を収録した報告書を作製し、関係者に配布した。
