Research Abstract |
The subjects of this year, the final year of the research project, were as follows : (1)To rearrange theoretically mind-body theories in modern philosophy. (2)To reconsider the philosophical mind-body theories in relation to specific bioethical problems such as environmental issues and artificial intelligence, and then to examine its probability. The results : (1)Osamu Hamai, head investigator of this research, examined Popper's mind-body theory in relation to Popper's theory of 'world 3.' Investigator Hirosi Yuasa examined mind-body theories in the philosophical anthropology quoting Scheler's theory. Investigator Yuji Sugimoto commented on mind-body theories in relation to modern responsibility ethics. (2)Investigator Takasi Kawamoto concretely approached mind-body theories in terms of applied ethics including bioethical matters such as nursing and care. Investigator Hirosi Hosomi considered mind-body theories bringing into question the actual bioethical issues such as dignity death against natural death and dignity of life against quality of life. Investigator Naoki Morisita advanced a theory of body in relation to the origination of ethos.
