| Research Abstract |
With this research, we narrowed the subject down to the Metropolitan area, selected depopulated towns and villages in Tokyo and prefectures adjacent to Tokyo, and investgated them. We feel the necessity of research like this, as the areas near Metroporitan are easily overlooked because of the image that a depopulated area is far from urban.
Some investigations were done about 4 sides of life ; (1) economic life (industry and labor) , (2) community life (participation to a community activities), (3) family and relatives (structure, function and network) , and (4) others (mass media, traffic, and shopping etc.) .
(1) Problems of the place where young people work, successors of regional industries, productivity, income stndard, regional industry promotion and conficts between local and outside capitals are taken out.
(2) Though the regional solidarity is strong comparing with urban, however, by a wave of getting aged and information, it is being loose gradually. Traditional festivals and events are simplified, and individualization is advanced.
(3) Problems of economy, health, medical treatment and care of aged are highlighted by the outflow of young population. Further, the problem of network formation between parents and children living in separate houses also takes part in this.
(4) Roads have prepared. So people's life such as commute and shopping was improved. However, on the other hand, this brings about the abolition of railway and bass, and affects a minus to aged person who doesn't have a car. Then, a qusestion of contact with information remains though it is increased.
Futher more, we would like to make types of depopulated communities as a future task.
