Research Abstract |
Spray characteristics of the ultra high-pressure injection spray were evaluated, and also diesel combustion characteristics and exhaust emissions were measured when the high-pressure njection system was applied to an experimental diesel engine. The following items were evaluated in this study. > Atomization of diesel spray > Simultanious concentration measurements of vapor and liquid in a diesel spray injected into high pressure and high temperature atomosphere > Characteristics of sprays impinging onto a combustion chamber wall > Initial process of the high-pressure injection spray > Combustion characteristics and exhaust emissions of multi-stage injection diesel engine > Spray characteristics of multi-stage injection > Ambient gas entrainment into intermittent gas jets > Exhaust emissions of high-pressure injection diesel engine > Flame behavior of diesel flame in a combustion chamber > Thickness of lubrication oil between cam and rollertapet The results obtained by this research demonstrates effects of the high-pressure injection on spray characteristics, combustion characteristics and exhaust emissions quantitatively. Moreover, the results suggest how to apply the ultra high-pressure injection system to real diesel engines.
