Research Abstract |
1. Preparation for forest environmental information Wide-area forest environmental information databases were constructed. The host computer is a medium-scale workstation. The forest environmental information includes spatial data as well as general text data and numeric data. Stand tables, weather data, and various plots data were entered or converted from existing data into the database hems and formats of the information were examined. 2. Developing terminals with graphic user interfaces Useful and easy terminals are necessary for data entry, managing and analyzing wide-area forest environmental information. Thus a graphical environment was developed using software and hardware which have excellent graphic user interface to display complex forest environmental information easily. 3. Developing forest management systems Forest management systems were developed. The systems can utilize the prepared forest environmental information including forest maps and attribute data corresponding to each place. The attribute data contain forest and geographic conditions. The forest management system can evaluate various forest functions and zone forests with the information and then be used interactively for determining management of forest in the future. 4. Analyzes of forest environmental information on a forests zone basis Wide-area forest environmental information formed and stored in the database was analyzed. In addition, forest environment was analyzed comparing long-term measurements on plots for tree growth.
