Research Abstract |
Superoxide radicals generated by CDDP probably play an important role in carcinogenesis and a free radical scavenger, 2-0-octadecyl ascorbic acid (CV-3611), may function in the prevention of mutagenesis. In fact, 2 mg/kg CDDP ip 10 times induced various kinds of malignant tumors in C3H/He Slc mice significantly more frequently and earlier than in the untreated controls. CV-3611 (total dose, 50 mg/kg) significantly suppressed and delayd spontaneous and CDDP-induced malignant tumors in C3H/He Slc mice.
