Research Abstract |
In healther life, three factors of food intake, exercise and rest are well balanced. Energy intake and energy consuption should be calculated at the same time. As a food intake study and a time and motion study are needed much time and labor, it is difficult to investigate both studies at the same time. In this study, the convenient methods of both studies were investigated. Dietary food intake study on female students was investigated by a correlation between the conveniet method and the precise quantification, on daietary nutrients. However no correlation was observed on Six food groups. The convenient method can be useful to estimate the intake of dietary nutrients. The simple formula for estimationg the value of the daily activity factor(x) was previously reported by the authors, as follows : 0.9 x "sleeping time (min)" + 1.54 x "sitting time (min)" + 2.00 x "standing time (min)" + 1.54 x "walking time (min)" + SIGMA(RMR value for running + 1.2 ) x "running time (min)" = 1600 (1 + x) The daily activity factor(x9 of male adult, male and female college students were estimated using this simple formula and a pedometer recording. As "walking time" was estimated using the pedometer recording, it should be not necessary to record "walking time". the suitability and usefulness of the simple formula in practice showed by good agreement between the value of x calculated using the formula and the pedometer recording and the x value obtained from all of the time and motion study. On the time and motion study, only "sliiping time" and "sitting time" should be recorded, that is, 8 and 3 hours, respectively, by using the simple formura and the pedometer recording.
