Research Abstract |
The aim of this research program is to conduct the survey on the current trends of the policies & social participation by/for women and women's studies in the Asia-Pacific region, in response to women's UNESCO program, which aimed to promote women as agents of social change, support for educational research in women's studies programs and improvement of the status of women. Thirteen members of this research team, including researchers of China, Korea, New Zealand and India, analyzed and clarified those topics such as, (1) role of women in social change in China & Indonesia, (2) gender bias in social policies --comparison between Japan & Korea, (3) women's studies in relation with policies and participation by/for women --cross-national study on gender and process of self image formation in New Zealand & Australia, (4) women's participation in development process in relation with family work and women's lifecourse in Thailand & India, and (5) relationship between women's policies and women's studies --lifelong education and development education in China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand & Thailand. By this research program, we realized our purpose as follows : (1) to gather information on women's studies and education of/for women in Asia-Pacific countries, (2) to exchange the view of women's studies, and (3) to establish information and human network for joint international and/or interdisciplinary researches.
