| Research Abstract |
1.In 1993 and 1995, head investigator (Dr. Arikawa), and Japanese investigators (Drs. Hashimoto, Morimatsu, Kariwa) visited Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease control, and Helsinki University Institute for Virology and made information exchange and discussions along with this research project.
2.In 1993, Chinese investigators (Dr. Song and Hun), in 1995, Swedish investigators (Drs. Niklasson and Lundkvist) visited institutions of Japanese investigator such as Hokkaido University, National Institute Health of Japan and Osaka University to do information exchange and discussions along with this research project.
3.In 1994, Japanese investigator, Dr. Morimatsu, stayd at Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease control for 2 months to accomplish technical exchange concerning to antibody measurements by ELISA with reduced level of nonspecific background reaction and material exchange of monoclonal antibodies.

onths and neutralizing antibody response of vaccinee sera from China was examined. To measure the antibody, ELISA system which established by Swedish investigator and recombinant antigen which produced by Japanese investigator, were effectively applied. The obtained result was important for assess efficacy of Chinese vaccine.
5.In 1994, head investigator (Dr. Arikawa) visited the institute of Chinese investigator (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) for discussing this research project and carried out preliminary field survey for collecting wild rodents.
6.In 1995, Japanese investigators, Drs. Sugiyama and Ami of National Institute of Health Japan, visited the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine and carried out field survey at suburbs of Beijing and Xian to collect field rodents. They examined the antigen distribution in the rodents by histochemical observations. Through the investigation, they established the system for collecting wild animals organs under the collaboration of Chinese investigators and examine viruses in the organs.
