Research Abstract |
1. Proposed sites on the Japanese Island Arcs were investigated for continental Scientific drilling. Especially, Boso Peninsula, Neodani, Yoro Valley, Kakkonda, IIdaka, Wakayama, Oshima, Ryoke, Sambagawa, Takamatsu, and Bonin were examined by the investigators of this project during the field trips. 2. Proposals for continental scientific drilling had been prepared and presented at the VIIIth International Symposium on the Observation of the Continental Crust through Drilling, held in Tsukuba, 1996. 3. We cooperated to realize the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP). German, USA and Chinese Goverments start ICDP formally, 1996. Science Council of Japan sent a recomendation for Japanese Goverment to participate on ICDP,referring our activities for continental scientific drilling in Japan. 4. All activities of this project have been informed frequently to scientists and institutions, more than 600, using "Scientific Boring News Letter (no.35-43)" : and presented on the Symposium of Japan Earth and Planetary Science Joint Meeting, 1994,1995 and 1996
