Research Abstract |
According to the proposed method, experiments on hardening the UV (ultra-violet) hardening resin with UV light from a mercury lamp through a mask made of paper were conducted as preliminary experiments, resulting in hardening simple models. We tried an experiment using liquid-crystal panel instead of the mask to control the UV light. Since the UV light transmitted through the liquid-crystal panel was so weak, experiments were terminated without success. The reason of the failure was because we did experiment with commercially provided liquid-crystal panel which was not constructed for the purpose of our experiment. Specially constructed liquid-crystal panel with high transmission rate of UV light is necessary in developing our method. Another aim of the research is developing a software system of rebuilding 3D (three-dimensional) models of human organs from 2D (two-dimensional) medical image data such as CT images and ultrasonic diagnosing images. We have developed such a software syst

em, where we can satisfactorily classify the subcutaneous tissue, soft tissue and bone using the technique of enhancement of X-ray CT images and classification method of density-gradient histogram. Rebuilding of 3D human heart model was also done with the ultrasonic diagnosing images, resulting in a good 3D images on computer display. Using the developed software system of rebuilding 3D models, a model of skull was constructed by an optical lithography method using UV laser beam. Suppose that the mask method proposed in this research becomes practical ones in future, we add transmission of medical image data for optical lithography using communications satellite and INTERNET as one of research subjects and a transmission system was constructed and transmissions of medical image data were conducted. The satellite communication was done using a Japanese communications satellite JCSAT and 3D CT images were transmitted, resulting in collecting basic data to achieve systems linked with optical lithography systems and image data acquisition systems.
