Research Abstract |
The objective of this study is to clarify the role and function of studying in Asian colleges and universities by Japanese researchers in terms of training of the scholar for Asian studies. A questionnaire survey was carried out in order to analyze, 1) Japanese scholar's motive of studying in Asian colleges and universities, 2) research conditions of Asian colleges and universities, 3) communication with local community, 4) career choice after returning home country (Japan) , 5) suggetions for improvement of present research conditions of Asian colleges and universities, etc. Respondents of this survey are 547 members of related academic societies in the field of Asian studies. Findings show the necessity to provide more opportunity to Japanese scholars for studying in Asian countries and also to create newe academic market for Asian studies in Japan.
