Research Abstract |
Frequent and small-sized shipment of goods causes traffic increase of freight vehicle in terms of vehicle-km, and then causes environmental problems. In order to relieve them, areawide intercarrier consolidation of freight has been proposed, but there are few successful cases to introduce it with the exception of Tenjin, a CBD in Fukuoka. This paper is to clarify necessary conditions to introduce and maintain the consolidation system in urban areas, by building a mathematical model focused on the cost structure of the consolidation system based on Tenjin experiences and making a sensitivity analysis under different conditions and policy alternatives.
