Research Abstract |
The five senses related with light, sound, touch, taste and odor in human beings contribute to supporting life. The thin-film magnetic semiconductor TMS has both magnetic and semiconducting characteristics. The TMS's magnetic property responds to photo, acoustic and touch stimulus, and semiconductor characteristic depends on taste and odor. This research has discussed the preparation of TMS and application to artificial sensory devices. The TMS is prepared by vacuum evaporate Fe Mn and Zn or printed magnetic semiconductor paste. The TMS painted with radiant flux absorbent such as carbon black or platinum black absorbs light energy and makes TMS temperature to rise, so it acts as a photo sensor. The magnetic acoustic sensor with a wide frequency range is constructed with a disk TMS,a pickup coil and a magnet. The touch sensory device which mixed the TMS and silicon rubber has flexibility as the skin, and changes reluctance with external pressure. The multichannel TMS is used as the taste sensor on vegetables, fruits, sake, coffee, wine and soy sauce. These samples are shown as a radar chart, so a clear discrimination in taste is made. Furthermore, the TMS as an odor sensor has functions responding to sake, coffee, wine and soy sauce.
