Research Abstract |
1) Rigid-plastic finite element method A new method for convergence of Newton-Raphson method of RPFEM was proposed which has been one of the important problems to be solved. 2) Earth pressure testing with aluminium bars Earth presures was measured by a simple labotatory testing with aluminium bars. Particularly the passive earth pressure could be measured with high accuracy which was compared with the data of numerical alalysis. 3) Distribution of passive earth pressure A simple formula was proposed to calculate the distribution of passive eath pressure based on Terzaghi's theory. Comparison with other data confirmed the validity of the present formula. 4) Trap door experiment with circular bucket A centrigugal testing of trap door was performed by using a circular bucket to investigate the earth pressure mechanism of sands and clays. 5) Summary of research The design concept was studied for quite large scale of geotechnical structures to make clear its stability.
