Research Abstract

Writer has been engaged in surveying "Akamizu" by hydrogeological and geochemical method during two years from April 1993 to March 1995.
In this paper, he compares old and new Akamizu in chemical component and estimates for natural purification on Akamizu. Old data were obtained twenty years ago 2 or 3 years after all coal mines were closed in Chikuho coal field.
As a result, in old data, almost all Akamizu springs showed more than 1000 muS/cm in electrical conductivity, in new data, a half of springs showed less than 1000 muS/cm. And a quarter of springs appeared to be surface water in chemical properties.
