| Research Abstract |
In the year of 1993, as the starting point of this research. Chinese words were extracted from the Chinese version, particularly from the indexes, of the 16 Volumes out of Series of Modern Political Science complied by Takashi Inoguchi and published by Tokyo University. In the second year, the Chinese words mentioned above were fed into the computer together with the Japanese equivalents, classified by volume, and an investigation into the translation started to be made.In this process of investigating the translation started to be made. In this process of investigating the translation, a certain amount of effort went into this project to make the collection of political terms contain more words, in such a way that each person working together in this project presented at all times political terms picked up from newspapers. Taiwanese dictionaries of political science, and some other texts and worked on the translation of those words.
Some principles which were established in process of arranging terms are as follows. 1.To collect political terms used in Japan and the Western countries (including the former Sovict Union) in principle, including not only modern terms but also important historical terms 2.To give the names of the countries in parentheses to the words used in specified countries 3.To indicate synonymes by the sign - and to treat words as headwords 4.To give a term at most four Chinese words and to arrange terms in the order of frequency in use 5.To give up English translation for want of time though it is to be desired that English translation should be added
There were a number of mistakes in translation in the above mentioned Chinese version, which was expected at the begining, and therefore, careful investigation was needed.
