Research Abstract

New two types of three-phase separation phenomena were found by the charge neutralization of perfluorooctanate ion ; they are amine type in the neutral pH to alkaline solution and that of polar organic solvent in the acidic solution. In this study, the concentration and separation of several kinds of metal-chelate and physiological active substrates have been discussed in detail based on fundamental findings obtained from these phase separation phenomena. In the amine type (e.g.the case in the presence of n-amylamine), threephase separation phenomenon was confirmed in the pH range of 7 to 8.Each phases were successively water phase and two kinds of water-immisible phase (second phase and first phase) from upper side. The homogeneous liquid-liquid extraction method using these phenomena was applied to three components such as L-ascorbic acid, hemogrobin and alpha, beta, gamma, delta-tetrakis (4-trimethylaminophenyl) porphine (TTMAPP) assuming that separate the medical substances in human b … More lood.As the results, they were able to be separated into water (L-ascorbic acid), second (hemoglobin) and first (TTMAPP) phases, respectively using only a one-step process with addition of amylamine to the perfluorooctanoic acid solution. On the other hand, in the polar organic solvent type (e.g.the case in the presence of dimethylsulfoxide), the three-phase separation phenomenon was confirmed in the pH range of 0.42 to 0.46.This extraction method was applied to eight kinds of synthetic water-soluble porphyrin. As the results, three kinds of water-soluble porphyrin was quantitatively extracted and separated in water phase, second phase and first phase, respectively. The structure and physico-chemical property of these solutes is an important as a model when this extraction method is applied to the separation for other solutes.
In conclusion, above-described valuable results for the development of new separation method "multi-compornents homogeneous liquid-liquid extraction"was obtained during the past two years. In the near future, the discovery of novel multi-phase separation phenomenon and the application to the extensive sample containing useful solute would be aggressively done.
