| Research Abstract |
本研究は、科学史・STSの分析方法を用いて、日本における地球・防災科学の歴史的展開を考察するものである。
まず19世紀後半の日本における地球物理学的調査については、本年度に調査研究を行い、平成20年1月18〜19日に米国ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学にて開催予定の国際会議"Locating Japanese Science and Technology: Place and the Production of Knowledge"で"Instrumentation of the Asiatic Field: Geophysical Practices in Japan during the Late Nineteenth Century"という発表を行う予定である。
また気象現象と関連して注目している紫外線については、平成19年5月26〜27日に京都産業大学で開催された日本科学史学会第54回年会にて、「『人工太陽』を求めて-1920〜30年代の日本における紫外線発生装置」という発表を行った。また、この研究を発展させ、『現代思想』2007年10月号に「紫外線をめぐる知識・技術・言説」という論文を掲載した。
一方、植民地台湾における地震研究については、二人の査読者のコメントを基に修正を行い、本年度中にEast Asian Science, Technology and Societyに"Seismicity Within and Beyond the Empire: Japanese Seismological Investigation in Taiwan and Its Global Deployment, 1895-1909"として掲載される予定である。
なお本研究は、研究分担者のB,Kimが平成19年10月16日付で東京大学に着任することになり、10月15日を以って終了した。
