Research Abstract

Report of this research is consist of 2 parts. In part 1, the results of two questionarie surveys are analyzed : one on the city life in Chiyoda, Setagaya and Ohta cities, and the other on the relations of medium and small enterprize and local community in Ohta city. In former survey, following findings are presented : desier of many of the residents in metropolitan districts, to continue to live in their living place, is hard to be fulfilled. Partly because of shortage of convenience in daily life, brought from the declining of shop and service agencies, and partly because high land value and land-and-housing problems, inadequate governmental policies on these problems. Findings in latter survey are as follows : from the analysis of network between medium and small enterprizes and their local groups, they are expecting to continue their enterprize and residence in local community, and they want these local community should be reformed to mixed area of house and factory.
In the second part of the report, trends of local development policy and community planning lead by local government in Japan was analyzed, as the sociological study of community social planning, based on the sociological field study of local community. In this report, tracing on the broadening process of the community planning from the plan focused on industrial development to the many sided plan centering on the improvement of the living environments, the meaning and problems of recent local community social planning was analyzed.
