Research Abstract |
(1) THERE EXIST DIURNAL VARIATIONS OF CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY IN THE TROPICS.CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES OF DIURNAL VARIATIONS ARE DIFFERENT BETWEEN OVER LANDS AND OCEANS. (2) IT WAS REVEALED BY THE TOGA-COARE SPECIAL UPPER-AIR OBSERVATIONS THAT THERE EXIST SHORT-PERIOD DISTURBANCES IN THE TROPICAL LOWER STRATOSPHERE. (3) ONSET AND RETREAT OF RAINY SEASON OVER INDOCHINA PENINSULA ARE ANALYZED BY USING SURFACE DAILY PRECIPITATION DATA AND SATELLITE OLR DATA. (4) THE RECENT DECREASING TRENDS OF PRECIPITATION OVER SAHEL ARE NOT DUE TO NORTH-SOUTH MOVEMENT OF RAIN-BELTS,BUT DUE TO DECREASE OF TOTAL RAINFALL OVER THE RAIN-BELTS. (5) FORMATION PROCESSES OF BAIU-FRONT OVER THE CHINA CONTINENT IN JUNE OF 1992 WERE ANARYZED.ATMOSPHERIC CIRCULATIONS AROUND THE TIBETAN PLATEAU PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE. (6) IT WAS FOUND BY THE NUMERICAL EXPERIMENTS THAT HEAT SOURCES IN THE TROPICS PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE FORMATION OF THE PRECIPITATION BELTS IN THE SUBTROPICS.
