Research Abstract |
The present research aimed to develop new ship maneuvering models based on fundamental experiments and hydrodynamical models. (1) Pressure measurements on ship hull were performed for two full ship models with different stern shapes in yawed and maneuvering motions. Then we obtained the distributions of lateral force, which is important in modeling of maneuvering motion. (2) CFD calculations could simulate the behaviors of lateral force and flow fields. (3) The cross-flow model could obtain the lateral force acting on full ship models in yawed motion. (4) By introducing a panel method (SQCM) and the simplified propeller model, we could calculate interaction forces acting on ship hull, propeller and rudder in the rudder angle test. (5) We obtained the characteristics of mariner rudder in open water and made clear the interaction between the horn and the movable part.
