Research Abstract |
We examined detailed anatomical variations in Japanese revealed during anatomical practice and during research in numerous medical schools. Further, aliterature search was conducted and the specific anatomical variations were compared with our anatomical data. Each group leader compiled a report on the variations of the following sections. 1) major lymph nodes and ducts, 2) bony structures and their basic arrangement, 3) trunk muscles and their innervation, 4) limb muscles and their innervation, 5) internal organs, 6) arteries and their branching patterns, 7) veins, 8) macroscopic investigations of the central nervous system, 9) origin, course and distribution of cranial nerves, 10) origin, course and distribution of spinal nerves. Based on these investigations, a symposium was held on 27th January 1996, and the anatomical variations in Japanese were discussed. At a later date these results and discussion will be published as amonograph.
