| Research Abstract |
1) BMP-2 stimulated osteoblastic differentiation in ST2, C3H10T1/2, MC3T3-E1 and PA6 cells, but its effect was less potent in PA6 cells compared with other cell lines.
2) BMP-2 induced chondrocyte differentiation in C3H10T1/2 cells, but not in ST2, MC3T3-E1 and PA6 cells.
3) BMP-2 inhibited myogenic differentiation in C2C12 myoblasts by suppressing transcription of myogenin. BMP-2 also induced osteoblastic differentiation in this cell line.
4) Sonic hedgehog induced osteoblast differentiation in C3H10T1/2 and MC3T3-E1 cells.
5) Transplantation of fibroblasts expressing Sonic hedgehog into muscle in athymic mice induced ectopic bone formation.
