Research Abstract |
The objective of the research is to develop CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction) Programs for learning Asian languages, i.e.Cambodian, Thai Uygur, Hindi and southern Chinese dialects, as well as learning their cultural backgrounds. Learners of these languages, who are suposed to be small in number, would confront difficulties, such as poor opportunities to get in contact with native speakers and qualified teachers for learning accurate pronunciation. Poor qualities and varieties for teaching audiovisual materials, textbooks would also cause problems. To solve these problems, we developed Hyper Card stacks (programs) for learning following languages. Stacks for learning Cambodian and Thai pronunciation and script systems. Stacks for learning Uygur conversation. CGI (Common Geteway Interface) programs and electronic dictionary for Hindi and KWIC (Key Word In Context) of a Hindi modern novel, 'goodaan'. Also some graphic database software in market are tested for making southern Chinese dialects and their cultural backgrounds.
