Research Abstract |
This research was put forward, in accordance with the plan of being focused on the comprehensive and many-sided analysis from both national and local aspects of the United States education. To be concrete, the following purposes were established at our meetings which had been held four times a year ; 1. to clarify "the school achievement" which the United States established, by means of curriculum guidelines and curriculum frameworks published by the Department of Education of the states : 2. to examine the relationship between "literacy" and "equity", which are the key concepts of American education since 1980's ; and 3. to clarify the movement, nationally, of the educational reform of the United States, by means of several reports, especially the National Standards of each subjects. To accomplish these purposes, many meetings were held, at which several researchers were invited outside our members and background information of our research were studied. Our research results are included in our interim (1994) and final (1995) reports. These reports could be useful as a fundamental materials for American education study.
