Research Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to establish the system of "seismic trenching by shallow hi-resolution seismic reflection method". The system is composed of the Yuatsu Impactor (Seimic source) and the iXL (Data processing). The former was made by the cooperative work of Chiba University, GSI,and Mitsubishi Juko in 1993 before the begining of this research project. The latter was prepared by this grant. The following points are essential for the improvement of the system. 1.In order to save time in surveying shot and receiving points, we combine bothe Total Station and DGPS systems. Thus, we can get the results of surveying immediately and put them into the iXL smoothly. 2.Seismic trenching requires dense distribution of both shot and receiving points. This inevitably brings tangle of lines and cables. Thus we abolish a trigger cable from the impactor and set the wireless trigger system between the impactor and a recording system. 3.Seismic trenching often requires 3-component geophones. For this case, we prepare a portable oscilloscope for monitoring seismic wave in field. We confirm the system of "seismic trenching" has been basically established through this research project.
