Research Abstract |
In the marine organisms, the presence of new type of biologically active compounds are expected. In this time, we conducted the isolation and characterization of the biologically active compounds from marine invertebrates with the object of searching the new medicinal resources. 1. Asteroidea (Echinoderms) : (1) Three kinds of glucocerebrosides having cytotoxic activity were obtained from Stellaster equestris. (2) A new ganglioside and two new steroid glycosides showing the cytotoxic activity were obtained from Astropecten latespinosus. (3) A new ganglioside showing neuritogenic activity was obtained from Asterina pectinifera. 2. Holothuroidea (Echinoderms) : A new sulfated ganglioside having neuritogenic activity was obtained from Cucumaria echinata. 3. Opisthobranchia (Molluscs) : (1) A halogenated acetogenin possessing ichthyotoxic activity was obtained from the sea hare Aplysia parvula.(2) A new unsaturated fatty acid showing the lethality to brine shrimp was obtained from the nudibranch Plocamopherus tilesii. (3) Seven new cytotoxic spongian-type diterpenoids were obtained from the nudibranch Chromodoris obsoleta. 4. Soft Coral (Coelenterates) : (1) Two new eunicellin-type diterpenoid having hemolytic activity were obtained from Litophyton sp.. (2) Two new eunicellin-type diterpenoid showing the lethality to brine shrimp was obtained from Cladiella sphaeroides. (3) A new xenicane-type diterpenoid showing ichthyotoxic activity was obtained from Xenia elongata. (4) A new cembrane-type diterpenoid showing paralysis to brine shrimp was obtained from Lobophytum schoedei. (5) From the Sinularia sp. three new amphilectane-type diterpenoids, two new sesquiterpenoids and four new steroids having cytotoxic activity were obtained.
