Research Abstract

(1) A MILKING ROBOT CAN BE USED IN DIFFERENT WAYS.IT CAN MILK THE COW TWO OR THREE TIMES A DAY AT FIXIED INTERVALS.TO GAIN MACIMUM BENEFIT FROM AN AUTOMATIC MILKING SYSTEM IT HAS TO BE USED 24 HOURS A DAY AND THE MILKING FREQUENCY MUST BE VARIABLE AND ADJUSTED TO EACH COWS'PARITY,IN ACCORDANCE WITH HER MILK YIELD,MILK COMPOSITION,BODY WIGHT AND FEED INTAKE.A DAIRY CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON THE FARM MUST CONTROL THIS PROCESS.IN A SELF-SERVICE MILKING SITUATION THE ANIMALS VIST THE MILKING ROBOT MORE OR LESS SPONTANEOUSLY SEVERAL TIMES A DAY.ONE WAY OF ACHIEVING THIS IS TO COMBINE MILKING WITH FEEDING.HOWEVER,FOR OPTIMAL UTILIZATION OF AN AUTOMATIC MILKING SYSTEM THE COW TRAFFIC WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO REGULATED BY SETTING UP A COMPULSORY ROUTING THE COW HOUSE.
(2) HIGH PRODUCTION LEVELS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH MORE FREQUENT MILKING,AND THUS WITH ROBOTIC MILKING.MORE FREQUENT MILKING MAY ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO THE IDEA OF ANIMAL WELFARE PROVlSION.
(3)HIGH LABOUR COST AS JAPAN WILL STIMULATE THE INDRODUCTION OF THE MILKING ROBOTS SYSTEM,BECAUSE ROBOTIC MILKING SYSTEM RESULTS IN LABOR SAVINGS.IT IS EXPECTED THAT ROBOTIC MILKING REDUCE PHYSICAL LABOR.THE HERDMAN'S FUNCTION WILL TRANSFER MORE TO SUPERVISORY WORK.
