Research Abstract |
1. Purpose : In order to obtain a clue to unified understand of quarks and leptons, aunified description of quark and lepton mass matrices is investigated. Results : (1) We have reached a new model, "democratic-seesaw-mass-matrix model" (DSMM model) by combining a mass-generation scenatio for Koide's charged lepton mass formula with an idea of a "democratic quark mass matrix model". (2) Quark masses and their family mixings have been evaluated on the basis of the DSMM model, and satisfactory results have been obtained. (3) Neutrino masses and their mixing have been investigated by extending the DSMM model to neutrinos. The model naturally be understand the large nu_<mu>-nu_<gamma> mixing which has been suggested by the atmospheric neutrino data at KAMIOKANDE. As the mass-generation mechanism which gives the DSMM from, we have proposed a non-standard Higgs mechanism, "H (3) -family noned Higgs boson model", and investigated possible new effects which are induced by the new Higgs bosons.
