Research Abstract |
The present study deals with pressure fluctuation due to rotor-stator interaction in centrifugal pumps, with special interests in the formation of rotating pressure fields inside the pumps. A single-stage pump with six-vaned centrifugal impeller in vaned diffuser was used as the test pump. The time-dependent local pressures at six measuring points were measured at the exit of the impeller when the number of guide vanes was one, five and eight. The measured data were processed first for noise reduction by ensemble averaging and then evaluated by Fourier analyzes. The analyzes indicated that the fundamental rotor-stator interaction for single guide vane is the basis of pressure fluctuation with arbitrary number of guides vanes. The simulation of pressure fields in the pump indicated the existence of rotating pressure fields with positive or negative propagating direction.
