Research Abstract |
1.Perfluoroalkylsulfonyl-substituted benzenes have been synthesized. 2.Perfluoroalkylsulfonyl-substituted azo dyes showed enhanced second-order nonlinear coefficients (d_<33>) and better relaxation behavior than the corresponding nitro derivative (DR 1) in doped PMMA.These can be attributed to stronger electron-withdrawing, long and rigid nature of the perfluoroalkylsulfonyl groups. 3.MMA co-polymers attached with perfluoroalkylsulfonyl-substituted azo dyes showed enhanced second-order nonlinear coefficients (d_<33>) and better relaxation behavior than the corresponding nitro derivative (DR 1). The shorter the N-alkyl chain length in coupling component, the high the glass transient temperature (Tg). Chain length of pefluoroalkylsulfonyl group did not affect Tg of the polymers.
