1) Two hundred fifty six charred woods from Minamimachi site (late Satsumon) in Kitami city and thirty charred woods from Ohkawa site (Satumon) in Yoichi-cho were identified on the basis fo anatomical features using scanning electron microscopy. One hundred woods from Mochiyazawa 2 site (early Zokujyomon and late Zokujyomon) in Otaru city were also identified using light microscopy.
